El Internet Message Access Protocol (Protocolo de Acceso a Mensajes de Internet) fue desarrollado por Mark Crispin en 1986, como alternativa al POP.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 1.0cm; line-height: 200%;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">A diferencia del POP3, el IMAP permite guardar mensajes y carpetas en el servidor de correo, de tal manera que si accedes a tu correo desde un navegador, los cambios que realices se ver\u00e1n reflejados en otros dispositivos, como tu smartphone. Con este protocolo, los correos se descargan bajo demanda, agilizando el proceso de descarga. Adem\u00e1s, como los correos permanecen almacenados en el servidor, no debes preocuparte por eventuales fallos en tu disco duro o p\u00e9rdidas de informaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 1.0cm; line-height: 200%;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Otra gran ventaja del IMAP es que permite al usuario crear carpetas para almacenar correos (trabajo, escuela, amigos, etc.), adem\u00e1s de permitir la b\u00fasqueda de corre<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small; line-height: 200%; text-indent: 1cm;\">os mediante palabras clave. Hoy en d\u00eda la mayor\u00eda de los servicios de correo electr\u00f3nico ofrecen el prot<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small; text-indent: 1cm; line-height: 200%;\">ocolo IMAP, como Gmail, Yahoo y Windows Mail.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 1.0cm; line-height: 200%;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Sin embargo, es importante considerar que, a diferencia del POP3, con IMAP s\u00f3lo tendr\u00e1s acceso a tus correos si cuentas con una conexi\u00f3n a internet.
